Madlands is a small online game. This page says what it keeps about you and why. It keeps as little as it can.
Playing as a guest
Your hero's name, characters, items, fame and settings are stored on our game server, under a random account id. The key to that account is saved in your browser (local storage). We don't ask for your name, email or anything else.
Signing in
Signing in is optional and lets your account follow you to other devices. It's handled by Clerk, with Google or Discord if you choose them. Clerk keeps your email address and the basic profile those services share (name and picture). Our game server only receives an id for your login, never your email or password.
Buying gems
Payments go through Stripe. Stripe handles your card and billing details; we only learn which gem pack was paid for and by which game account.
Keeping bots out
Creating a guest account runs Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot check, which sees your IP address and browser signals. The site runs on Cloudflare, which keeps short-lived request logs for running and protecting the service.
What other players see
Your hero's name, class, level, appearance and where you are in the game, plus fame on the Legends board after a character dies. Chat messages go to the players around you.
Reports and crashes
If someone reports you, the report keeps your hero's name, your account id and your last few chat messages, so a person can check it. If the game crashes in your browser, it sends us the error, the page and your browser's name (no account details).
What we don't do
No ads, no tracking or analytics cookies, and we never sell or share your data.
Deleting your data
Press Delete account at the bottom of your profile in the game. It erases your heroes, items, fame, gems and cosmetics, and takes your fallen characters off the Legends board. If your account is saved to a login, you sign in once more to confirm and your login at Clerk is deleted too. It can't be undone.
